I alluded to it previously, but I’m taking a bit more active role over at Network Computing. I finally got my official title, “Technology Editor”. It sounds a bit fancier than it is, though I am one of the main (or the main — I haven’t quite figured that out yet) security beat editors which is nice since I have a lot more say about the direction of what the magazine does.
I’m not on the masthead yet, and my official start date isn’t Jan 1, ‘07 though I’ve been taking on more work for the past few weeks. I’ve been swamped with emails from PR people for various companies (it’s almost as if they knew I’d been hired before I did some of these folks were so quick on the email) and I’m definitely going to have to be careful about how I organize my time. Still, it’s a good opportunity and of course getting a steady stipend doesn’t hurt either.
Thanks for making me learn something new today!
