Over course, there’s something to be said for not starting over too. I wasn’t really sure how I wanted to handle moving to this new design. I’ve seen others nuke their blogs and start over many times in the past, sometimes keeping the old posts, most times, not. I don’t really know if I’ve felt any more or less connected as a result of having that old history around on someone else’s blog. On mine though, there’s something comforting about bring all the old over here. It’s not really that new of a site, see? It’s still got the same old comment spam in the archives, crappy posts I probably should have removed, etc. The only thing I’m not burdened down by is the aging publishing system and site style.

There’s something to be said for the feel of an empty blog, much like a blank piece of paper. A nice feeling that you’re about to create something. So maybe I’ll get fed up with this new system and nuke all the old posts away. Who knows.

An empty blog is a nice feeling, one that (as you’ve mentioned) I’ve been known to indulge in from time to time, and may very well do again (though I don’t plan on moving URLs any time soon, which should be of some benefit to the five or six readers I have).

However keeping your old post is nice so that you can get some history on the person you’re reading about. And history *is* comforting.
