At work, I’ll occasionally search for a random word in all my mp3 collection and play all tracks that match that word. It’s a good way to get a pseudo-random assortment of tracks. Today I chose “somewhere” as a word (originally because of a random slashdot quote from a Dishwalla song with somewhere in the title made me want to hear the track) and was very surprised at the results. All songs in my collection with the word “somewhere” in the title were excellent. It’s definitely going to start my collection of favorite words.
Here’s the actual tracks that make up that list:
-caedmon’s call/40 acres/09 - Somewhere North.mp3
-default/the fallout/07 - Somewhere.mp3
-dishwalla/live from the flow state/08 - Somewhere In The Middle.mp3
-dishwalla/opaline/03 - Somewhere in the Middle.mp3
-k’s choice/almost happy/06 - Somewhere.mp3
-keane/hopes and fears/01 - somewhere only we know.mp3
-lifehouse/no name face/11 - Somewhere in Between.mp3
-our lady peace/gravity/03 - Somewhere Out There.mp3
-our lady peace/live/14 - Somewhere Out There.mp3
-snow patrol/final straw/11 - somewhere a clock is t.mp3
And let me take this time to again invite random internet users to select music for my office to listen to. If people abuse it with obnoxious things, we’ll restrict the addresses that can access it. As it is, off-site users can’t change volume, skip tracks, veto tracks, or remove tracks from the playlist. Just queue up new music. So if you feel like filling our day with random tunes, give it a go.
Thanks to the random individual that queued up some good Better than Ezra and Death Cab for Cutie a few minutes ago!
