So Wantingseed now has a favorite icon. Lin pointed out to me a rather interesting side effect — if you use Firefox’s live bookmarks to bookmark a site with a favorite icon, the live bookmarks can easily show you when you haven’t read one of the stories — just look for the one with the default icon still. At first I tried hacking onto the rss feeds, adding an atom feed (a technically to spec, but otherwise relatively broken one, no less), but to no avail. Finally, I realized that the icon was changing to the favorite icon and that’s all it took. So now there’s a favorite icon based on an acorn photo from the wikimedia commons project. If anyone wants to come up with a better favicon, I’m certainly up for suggestions. The current one looks to me as much like a severed finger as it does an acorn.
