Jaime bought some various protein bars and diet bars from publix the other day. Not that we really needed either, but they were on some sort of ridiculous mark-down, $1.50 -> 10cents and she figured they might make a good snack to have on hand in the pharmacy. Well, she figured wrong. They were disgusting. I guess the price should have been a good hint. I didn’t find it too surprising that they’d taste like crap. They’re manufactured paste basically so why should they actually taste good? What is surprising though is how ridiculously different the picture on the ourside of the wrapping is from the inside. The image on this post is “what you see”. If you click it, you’ll see “what you get”. The fact that there’s even a small piece of what might be a chocalate chunk visible in the second photo is pretty rare. For the first few bites I exposed, it was just bland, pasty, brownness. Yum.
I just want to know where the rich layer of creamy dark chocolate is supposed to be. I mean, I’ll accept the fact that they use about 10% as many chocalate chip looking things as they claim on the cover, and the fact that they doctored the photo to make the paste look less, well, pasty, but what I can’t fathom is why they’d have this runny layer of chcolate that doesn’t even exist. That seems more than slight exaggeration.
It looks upside-down too. In one picture the darker portion of the bar is on top. In the other picture it is on the buttom.
Perhaps they feel that the market for protein bars and health bars is so hot that they can have a successful product even if it is made poorly and advertised falsely.

I’ll take them, I’m trying to get as much protein as I can get, and lately I haven’t been too hungry.

So Jamie works in a pharmacy? Is she a pharmacist? I’m surprised you never mentioned this (not that we communicate frequently) but that IS why I’m in school, ya know!
But you’re right — that bar looks entirely different from its appetizing picture. Now wonder they were 10 cents apiece.

Ah, yeh, they make such things also in the UK.
I took mine back and complained.
