Remember when you were little and got water in your ear and your mother told you not to stick anything in your ear? Yeah, well, apparently, I didn’t yesterday. Said situation happened and now I’ve got water lodged so far in my ear that after 4-5 fill/empties of my ear with isopropyl alcohol it’s still clogged.
It’s an odd experience being half-deaf. I can still talk on the phone just fine (unless I forget and put it to my right ear–which is where I normally have it), but it’s really hard to hear when people are speaking to me what they’re saying unless they speak relatively clearly and directly at me. Oh that’s just great. Just heard back from the doctor’s office. The earliest they’re going to be able to see me will be monday.
equal parts isopropyl alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, white vinegar –> mix –> put in ear for a minute or two and drain. lay your head on a table or in someones lap.
i’m not sure where i learned this, but it’s what i learned as a kid in order to prevent swimmers ear. i think: the peroxide has some effect on the ear wax, the vinegar kills bacteria/critters, the alcohol to help evaporate the water.
std disclaimer: i’m not a doctor nor do i play one on tv

Yeah, I’ve tried different combinations of all of those ingrediants multiple times so far (on the advise of my wife and our new neighbor, the nurse practitioner). I think my ear canal is now inflamed for some reason (sticking something pointy with a paper towel around it in my ear probably didn’t help that)
