You know, other than the blatant name mis-spelling, this article actually does a decent job getting across most of the points I made. I have to retract some of my general dis-like towards reporters trying to report tech issues. This guy was definitely trying and didn’t do too bad.
So how does one pronounce “Wienes”?
I vote for (WEE-nis).

That’s pretty much how I’ve been saying it.
Actually, even before I talked to this reporter, I was a little loopy, running around the office earlier this week saying,
“My name is Jor-dan Weenis! Do NOT rhyme my name!” In my best Cornholio voice.
Then, the article came out reinforcing that. Odd.

That’s a unique misspelling, at least he’s consistent, he sticks with that spelling the whole way through the article. I think Dave has a valid comment on the pronunciation.

He misspelled purposefully — for security reasons.
Cynical, yes, but I think that your reporter is still new to his trade. As such, he is still something of a normal person and less prone to err.
