Or is it sad when you notice that your neighborhood has cable again because the wireless sniff of all the local wireless networks that you were running shows a previously dead access point being used to buy shoes online?
No, I don’t think it’s just me. That’s sad. On the bright side, the cable was only out for a couple of hours. The withdraw symptoms might have been more than I could take when combined with my cold.
The truly ironic part was that I had just received a new tv tuner card with an mpeg encoder chip on-board and was running home from the office so excited to use it.
I was so excited because I ordered it on Thursday with the cheapest shipping possible (Free) and amazon predicted it would arrive in 8-11 business days or something crazy like that. Well, it arrived at the office today. How’s two business days sound for free shipping? And then I get home and the cable is out. I think that’s called ‘Iron-ing’? Or something like that.
does the encoder work in linux?

Yup, through the ivtv (sourceforge) project.

I always get my supersaver purchases in 2 or 3 days. I don’t know why I would ever use the more expensive options or sign up for the $70 premium service.
