So between vulnerabilities in phpBB and php itself, I’ve had a lot of fun patching all the software of those who run bulletin boards on my server, but have no idea that they should probably be patching security problems in them. It was pretty stressful, but all in all, another good way to practice obscure command-line mojo to simplify things. I’m definitely going to re-architect things so in the future I can just let them go, and if they get compromised, it’ll automatically shut down their domain until they can fix it. It turned out to be just in time, too.

Of course, today wasn’t all stressful. This morning while walking down the hill to do some forensics on a pretty nastily compromised machine, it was absolutely beautiful. With it that cool (45), sunny, quiet on campus, there was nothing to do but put my hands in my pockets, and the buds in my ears. Of course, the random playlist churned up some “>chill tunes which doesn’t hurt. It’s pretty darn hard to feel anything but totally relaxed in that kind of environment.
