About three and a half years ago Jaime and I went to Best Buy to buy a wireless router and were excited to find an open-box Linksys 802.11b router for $199. This Christmas, the upgraded version of that router that actually has a little linux computer embedded in it was on my list. Jaime did a wonderful job keeping an eye out for it on the usual deal sites and grabbed one from best buy today for me with two $10 rebates for a grand total of $35. If we would have remembered the 10% off BB coupon we had at home, it could have been under $30.

My how times have changed.

Will I be one of those old guys lamenting the price of gas in a few years? It’s looking like it.

You’re not already lamenting the price of gas?

I’m reading the Hacker Crackdown as an e-book on my Palm. It’s funny when he talks in such reverent tones about an AT&T machine that had a 3.5GB harddisk. Times, they are a changin’…

Jaime’s list looks pretty difficult… or maybe easy. I guess that depends on how you look at it.

And that really is her list. She’s given pretty much no suggestions for any of the family for her. Should be interesting to see what she gets. ;-)

It’s funny to read this post now that gas is up to $2.25/gallon in Gainesville. I remember two summer’s ago wondering what will happen when gas prices go above two dollars… the times have changed.
