I’m really glad I’m not playing in the little fantasy league that gets started up every year or so (or rather, I only hear about it or play in it every year or so) by some of the ex-DOP’ers and a few other random people. Instead, this year, I told Jaime she could be the coach and I’d simply watch. Last time she was a great advisor for me, and I got the feeling she’d be better at than me.

Well, she’s much better at it. In fact, she’s currently #1 in the league of ten right now. And second place? Second Place would be Mrs. Rachel Nordby. Yup, you heard me. Ten people in the league, two girls, and they’re beating up on the boys. Rachel’s ridden the Daunte Culpepper train for a couple of games to get some ridiculous scores that has launched her back up into the very top of the pile, but the rest of her team is solid too. Jaime’s just had fairly consistant play out of all of her players, been good about scouting and picking up new recruits and hasn’t had any major snafus either (though Randy Moss getting injured last week nearly could have been; though he managed to put up 11 fantasy points before going out in the first quarter and shouldn’t be out much).

Either way, I’m really glad i’m not playing. I’d be getting stomped. Sure, some of the credit to Jaime’s wins goes to her careful research, making sure to read up on all the matchups, and listening to the right columns online, but still; she still knows more than me, and I know I’d be getting worked over if I was fielding a team.

Of course, we’re just now half-way through the season, and a lot can happen in that time, so we’ll see. Either way, good luck to the ladies and their conquest of football.

(Too bad nobody made any stupid bets like the DSL commercial commercial where a group of women trounce the men somehow as a result of their faster internet connection)

Well, yeah, that about sums it up.
