After nearly a month of screw-ups, (1 electronic submission, one fax, and one email later) Dell finally is able to tell me they have successfully received the PO for my laptop. Of course, it’s been OVER a month since I first generated the quote and submitted the purchase request into our campus system. Now I just have to sit and wait and see if Dell makes their estimated ship date of Aug 23. Of course, they upgraded me to free overnight shipping so I’ll save a whole 3 days there. How nice of them.
The rep tried to make it sound like they’d only had the order for 48 hours when he wrote me back appologizing (or was he?) and offering the shipping upgrade. Of course, I was on the phone with the lady at the purchasing office while she faxed over the order on Aug 2, and she immediately got a confirmation the fax had been received. So somebody over there had it.
Enough. I can stop ranting since I have what I was asking for the whole time; confirmation that the order is actually being processed, regardless of when it actually arrives. Folks around the office will be glad; I’ve been grousing about it for weeks.
In contrast, my most recent ebay purchase was a smashing success A+++++++++++++++++++++++ BEST EVER transaction (I hate ebay feedback. Why is it always a superlative contest?). It really was ‘2 pair’ as said in body description, despite the title of the listing. $7.74 for two pairs of good headphones. Great deal, and they really are nice headphones. I think Jaime will be happy since she’s wanted a pair like this for a bit now. The last time we tried, the headphones were pretty darn uncomfortable, but I think these will do just fine since I’ve had them on my head for almost two hours now and they are still comfy.
What Dell did you end up with? Good luck with Charley.

D400 - Pentium M 1.8. Smoking machine. If I could have gotten something equivalently powerful with that weight elsewhere for less than 2000, I would have.
Yup, this thing is looking nastier and nastier.
