My wife and my brother are both good for my music listening. Not only do they both like similar things, but they like just enough different things that I’m always being musically stretched. Last weekend Jaime and I purchased a ridiculous amount of cds. I don’t even know how many (we’ll see wha the total is when I’m done with them here), but it was a lot. Many of them were purchased on allofmp3 (click english in the upper-right), who now does accept paypal for those of you a bit wary to give a credit card number to a russian site selling music too cheaply to be true. Specs was the other beneficiary of our spending spree, with the local store having an extra %50 off all usd dvd’s, video games, and music in the store. The video games were ridiculously picked over (probably good because I had already purchased a gameboy this weekend on ebay AND a bunch of dirt cheap GC games–other things I didn’t need but got anyway), but the music selection was great.
So here’s the final damage for the weekend:

Hmm, 25 full cds. Yeah, that’s a lot. My ‘new’ playlist on my mp3 player that will last me a long time now for sure.
Appologies for not linking all the artists, I’m sure you can use your favorite search engine if you’re interested. Here are my awards so far:
Most pop-ish - Maroon 5 (no surprise there)
Most original - The Streets
Best Rock - Breaking Benjamin
Most chill - Hard to say, Erotic Lounge, Zero 7, and Zucchero are all good. Check out Zero 7 - Destiny. Good stuff.
Most opinionated - Morrissey. He makes Bono look politically inactive.
Though The Streets is pioneering British Rap in the 2000’s, you have to also give a bit of originality to Coheed & Cambria. Glad to see you took my advice on quite a few CDs, I’ll keep my ears open for you.

Is “The First of the Gang to Die” on that Morrissey album (yeah, I could look, but I’m lazy)? I really really dig that song. I found Zero 7’s “When It Falls” here recently and was quite impressed (having only heard “Destiny” and “Waiting Line” before).
If you’re looking for something to sort of kick ass to (I code to them), check out Dropkick Murphys. Boston Irish punk rockers, hard to beat (check out “Irish Drinking Song” or “Finnegan’s Wake” to get a taste before you buy, perhaps).
