Remember the farside comic with the kid pushing on the pull door? Sure you do. I felt like I work in that building today. I went out the back loading dock today and noticed the back door to the building has a sign on both sides of the door:
Turn Knob to Open Door
I was ecstatic! For 24 years I’ve never been able to figure out the blasted things, always having to wait until someone else could get it for me, now the secret was revealed!</sarcasm>
The problem is that normally someone tapes the bolt in the door and merely pushing it is enough to open. When the tape fell off, someone put the ever-so-helpful sign to clue people who were apparently braindead enough to not figure out that if you push and it doesn’t open, turning the knob might help.
Of course by the time I saw it, the bolt had been taped again, and you didn’t even have to heed the sign.
Sigh. It’s late, and tomorrow I’m back to work at the school for the gifted.
