Fucking China.
It appears that despite my effervescent love for the People’s Republic of China, the entire Denial of Purpose collective (or, rather, what used to be that and is now Jordan’s hosting company), is being blocked by the Great Firewall of China.
I’m currently accessing this through an open proxy which is pretty fast and not terribly bothersome. I’m going to write some scripts soon to randomly rotate through the fastest available proxies so that they stand less of a chance of being blocked. At least now I have no reason not to read the BBC, which I did quite often before coming here.
And to China, my adopted home, remember that one of the great strengths of the Western world is free flow of information. By pulling bullshit like this (not that our sites were any great asset to the Chinese people, but they do serve as an example of a greater problem) you are merely shooting yourselves in the foot of growth and development.
So there.
Wantingseed.com and Denialofpurpose (the home page, anyway) were both accessible from Beijing 10am (BJ time) on the 5th.

They both appear to still be down (10:27AM CCT) here, but I know there are instances that pages are accessible in some places and not others. Maybe I just pissed somebody in the Zhejiang PSB off

It was only a matter of time. Since you speak honestly about your experiences in China, both good and bad, and honesty is not something the Chinese government is particularly comfortable with. When will they learn that it isn’t necessary to censor the media if you can simply influence it with corporate favors?
