First day journaling. This is the Journal of Jordan K. Wiens, 1174 Baltic Ln, Winter Springs, FL, 32708. If you find this please return it. This is my first attempt at journaling so it might not be the best. I intend to keep this journal updated every day, whether I do or not is yet to occur. This journal will be written, almost like an on going letter to someone named Yhwh. Some people know who he/she is, others may not. Yhwh, let me tell you about a little of my background, although you already know. As I said previousy my name is Jordan Wiens. I’m 12 years old, born in 2-11-80, in Flint, Michigan moved from there to Indiana, from there to Ohioh, where I had a brother and a sistern born, Erin 2-27-82 and Colin 1-16-85, from there to Kansas, from there to Florida, where I live now. My memory is fairly good, I’m intelligent, short, 4′7″, can have tantrums, occasionally have a bad attitude, although if I am aware of it I can control it. I love to read, fantasy, Sci-Fi, and fiction. That is a fairly short overview of me and my life up till now.

I was actually proud of how long my sentences were. They jumped the reading level of text in the Microsoft Word grammar checker, so I loved going on and on and on, and, for some, reason, I thought, commas couldn’t, be, overused.

The highlights of reading through one of my aborted journals (most entries were from about 3 years after the first one):

  • I went to John’s a lot and just sorta hung out; no purpose necessary.
  • I talked about my girlfriend at the time a lot; many hysterical comments that won’t be making their way here.
  • I was actually more dilligent then about journaling than I have been any time since.
  • Many entries mentioned old skool BBS’ Made me all happy inside. Even one mention of a BBS GT (Get-together) that I can’t remember if I actually attended or not.
  • I wish I was journaling now; these online entries help, but it’s so fun to go back and re-live things otherwise forgotten. Maybe this will be good motivation?

    BBS? What is that?
Interesting… Your sister is one day older than me.

    Bulletin Board Systems.

    Good place to start:

In short, they were an integral part of the culture and methods that were eventually merged with the pre-internet to form the internet as we know it. One person with a modem or two (or hundreds) would let other people call in and leave messaages for one another, chat with one another, or play games with one another all over text based modem connections. They rocked. I’ve thought about setting up a bbs you could telnet to for a long time now, but haven’t yet.

    >BBS? WHat is that?Man, Jordan: we are old.

I know, I feel old like that all the time.

Very cool that you kept journals during that time of your life. I have some aborted attempts lying around my room back home, but nothing that was ever more than five or six entries at a time.

Was that the BBS GT that we went to, that resulted in our talking to that “older woman” (she was like 13 or something) on the phone that night? You know what I’m talking about, even if I can’t sketch together all that many coherant memories.

And dude, you went to my house and vegged out on TV until the sugar high from all the Frosted Flakes and Fruit Loops you used to jack made it impossible to sit still :)

Oh, and who was the girlfriend at the time? Was it… um… started with a B, right? I think I remember it, but it was the girl that was the focus of many many conversations while walking down that path out of Indian Trails that ran down behind Keeth, right? The first of your ex-girlfriends to end up pregnant at some point down the future. Or am I totally off the mark?

Don’t let those long sentences fool you. Only 6 days later and we’re down to this: “Mowed the lawn. Swam. Went to Library 16 books. Not much to write.”

Jordan K. Wiens: All kinds of ladies’ man

The girlfriend at the time of the posts was the much more infamous D from a little bit after B. The bulk of the journal posts were late in ‘95. Ahh, memories. I’m glad we have a nostalgia category.

I hope you can insist on doing things like that
