Once when I was around 5 years old my family was sitting down for dinner enjoying a quiet meal at home. We were having a casserole with rice which I picked at, but decided I didn’t like the way the rice had tasted. I must have still been at an age where my parents would force me to eat if I didn’t like something (come to think of it, that lasted until late in my teens), so they were going to force me to eat it, but I kept refusing. Finally, the meal finished, and everyone else’s rice nearly gone, it was noticed that the rice contained some small flecks of something besides rice. There were dead ants all throughout the cookied rice. Cooked dead ants. Further inspection revealed that they had somehow invaded the rice container on the counter and been toasted along with the brown rice. Yum.
It’s decided. I’m not forcing my kids to eat. They get hungry after a while anyway, don’t they?

That’s why you should only eat white (or maybe yellow) rice. Identifying foreign objects is made much simpler.

Just to be contrarian…
That’s why you should only eat fried rice, and never examine it too closely. That way you get all your daily extras without having to worry about identifing anything… and the nausea the happens when you do it too late.
