Subtitled: And why it loves me

A friend brought the remainder of his cd collection into the office today. It’s a poorly kept secret that he’s getting ready to leave here and work elsewhere though nothing has official been reported yet. So he’s apparently selling off many of his worldy possessions in the process. Not sure if he’s just trying to minimize the number of things to move or if it’s for more Zen like reasons. Either way, he had a duffel bag full of cd’s that he was selling for $5/cd. Not exactly a tremendous deal, but not a bad rate considering he had some decent cd’s. I picked out three of them (Jane’s Addiction, Candlebox, and Tool) and was reminiscing on the good-ole-days of music when suddenly Mighty Joe Plum’s Fifteen Stories started playing in my head. What a wonderful song, I thought to myself and began to wonder what happened to the band. Apparently not much. One cd and they were out, little information seems to be left on the internet about them. However on a chance trip to amazon, I searched for their cd, and while it was (obviously) out of print, and stock, amazon had a z-seller (their new scheme that’s apparently making them more profits than all their other stories combined; they merely front the web interface and search engine for other people’s stuff and act as the middle-man in the transaction) had it onsale for 1cent. Yup, the cd was 1 cent. Plus 2.49 for shipping. So all told the cd was 2.50 (half the price of the cds I had just bought off my office-mate). Of course, I’ve got to wait for the cd, but I’m fairly excited. It’s unlikely the merchant will rip me off since Amazon would come and regulate on them for any funny business, and it was such a good price. I had to restrain myself from searching for other long-lost cd’s to see how cheaply I could acquire them.

Holy crap. The cd arrived today, and was brand-new, still in shrink-wrap. I’m amazed. Since then, I’ve gone back to the seller’s little z-shop on amazon and am looking at the rest of their deal cds. Already found the Pushmonkey cd which is a must-have that I don’t. I love the internet.

Except I’m a putz and already own that particular pushmonkey cd. Oh well…

I was going to say… didn’t we buy that at one of their shows? An EDBD, perhaps?

    I like Dave Matthews.

I’ve found some excellent little z-shops selling off all sorts of books/cds and games that are no longer available from Amazon and other shops. So I’m not really surprised that they are making such a killing on it.

I’ve always found the z-shops to have excellent service.

    Wooyay for the Internet!
