So as to not get completely behind in posts, I’d better keep it up. People who don’t visit for a day or so are gonna be surprised…

Yesterday my boss informed me that boss^2 had applied for a bonus for me without anyone’s knowledge. So basically, I get a nice fat extra bonus thrown on top of my next paycheck completely at random. While not nearly as much as an extra paycheck, it’s still definitely a good chunk of change.

This is, actually, a mixed blessing. Extra money is definitely a good thing, can’t complain about that. The problem is that there are so many things that I need to use it for (taxes due on the condo soon, Jaime’s tuition due in the fall, we’re considering selling Jaime’s car before her warranty is up due to the amount of mechanical problems we’ve had with it) and yet my natural tendancy is to find other, more hedonistic uses for it.

That’s one of the main differences between being married and not. I now have different responsibilities, and not just because my wife might not approve my purchases, but because I have a responsibility to being fiscally sound for the marriage’s sake that I could be a bit more cavalier when I was the only one who might suffer from a mistake.

Besides, who knows, maybe we’ll end up budgeting well, and we can get all the necessities, even maybe a few of the fun things Jaime would like, and have enough room left for some of the toys above. I kind of doubt it, but that’s ok, it’s still fun to dream.

Congratulations on the bonus. Maybe you are being compensated for so many deskless hours…
I think it is great that you are being less cavalier with your money now too. Jaime should be happy which provides you with more immediate gratification, plus you might just suprise yourself and have enough money in the end for goodies. Besides, the longer you wait on buying tech the better it is, right?

Man, there’s a lot of ‘look but don’t touch’ that comes with marriage isn’t there?
You make it seem to all be worth it though.

A bonus is always a nice thing. I love when those come through. When you start living with somebody though, or even married, get ready for change. Get I used to saying “I’ll be right back…” or “I’m going to go to…”. No more just getting up and walking out. Keep tabs, but it will be cool.

The Treo 600 looks sooo much better than the 300. http://www.brighthand.com/article/Handspring_Unveils_Treo_600

What’s with Aristotle? He’s out doing every girl in town and he is Big Aristotle. Then he gets whipped like the rest of us, moves in with a girl, and he loses the Big? I have to admit, I’m disappointed.

    ^Hey man, not quite yet.
