Last night I purchased the new guster cd. It was only $9.99 at best buy, and as I opened it up this morning, I’ve slowly come to the conclusion that whether you like their music or not (in the past, I liked most of their stuff, but wasn’t a huge fan), this cd is the absolute best deal EVER.

First of all, it’s got 14 tracks. Granted, one is a 30 second hidden track preface to the ‘real’ hidden track, but still. 13 songs is what I consider the minimum for a ‘full’ cd these days. But they didn’t stop there, oh no.

On opening up the CD in the computer, I was presented with the usual annoying and stupid auto-play menu of ‘go to our website, email us,’ stuff like that. Except I happened to click the link, and boy am I glad. You can visit the link, but it won’t work unless you happen to know how to fake a cookie of gusterecdaccess=1 from www.warnerbrosrecords.com. COUGH, or COUGH. Anyway, on that site, they had a whole live cd worth of mp3 downloads, and 11 of the tracks on this cd that had been ‘meow-mixed’. They were the same songs, with the lyrics of ‘meow, meow’ throughout the entire song. I figure maybe they put them on p2p networks to confuse things, or maybe they were just having fun, but they’re hysterical. Additionally, the side had a couple of videos from this cd. I have to say, that I was most impressed at the value per cost for this thing. Now I just have to find out if the music itself is any good.
