Buying gifts for mom is hard. The rest of the family is, by comparison, ludicrously easy — sports for dad, computer stuff for Jeff. But mom is hard. It takes some thinking, some tinkering and, ultimately, some damn good luck while searching the mall for just the right thing.
I’ve had good luck lately getting slightly off-the-wall things, as she is an avid collector of such useless but lovable little trinkets. I struck gold at the little Asian goods outlet in the Oviedo Marketplace, picking up something similar to the red envelope lucky bamboo in glass vase, but a lot nicer and not quite so expensive. Went over very well, mother was very pleased.
What did you get/do for your mom on Mother’s Day?
I gave her a hug and stayed an extra day in Tampa. She seemed to appreciate the last part quite a bit.
