Since Catch Me If You Can was all checked out (for the second night in a row), Jaime and I did a quick browse through Blockbuster for a different pick. We ended up getting The Truth About Charlie. The most memorable thing about it when it was in the theaters was how little I heard of it. No one I knew had seen it (or admitted it), but it looked like it might be a good movie, so we gave it a whirl. Thankfully, we did as it turned out to be a phenomenal movie. Just the right amount of plot twists, the right amount of crazy cinematography (almost too much), and some great characters.
If you’re in the market for a DVD to buy, I’d highly recommend it, especially because it’s actually two movies in one. It’s based on Charade, from 1963 which is included on the other side of the DVD, and I’m watching it now. Thankfully the new version happens to keep some of the best lines of the first one, while definitely giving it a good face lift.
Charade is an awesome movie. AMC (I think) showed it a few months ago. Just look at the cast: Cary Grant, Audrey Hepburn, Walter Matthau, James Coburn, George Kennedy… and it had an engaging plot. Hard to beat.

It took me a little while to figure out why John was looking to rent a movie for him and Jaime.

That’ll be the second time now, and probably not the last time that’s happened. This is going to take some getting used to.

I hated The Truth About Charlie. I thought it was slow, the characters were poorly developed, and that Tim Robbins’ accent was quite possibly the worst thing I’ve ever heard in my life.
Not that I’m any sort of reliable critic. I loved Bullet, but only admit it because it makes one of three people who knew who Adrien Brody was before The Pianist.
I even thought he was hot.
