I am by nature somewhat lazy. Or perhaps, to be slightly more self-flattering, I have a hard time remaining motivated to continue things that I have started. It’s a personality trait I am not proud of, but that I have learned to, at very least, compensate for.

Maintaining a weblog is no different than anything else I’ve ever done. It’s fun for a while, and then it drags, and then it just completely falls off the cliff of interest into the huge pile of dead and dying ideas that litter this proverbial canyon floor. The motivation is simply not there.

The previous incarnation of this website was beginning to get that stale feeling a few weeks ago when I started thinking about ways to maintain my level of interest (because I really do enjoy it). The best idea was to create a collaborative writing forum, where others could write and I could gain inspiration from them, hopefully to reciprocate the favor when they were in need of inspiration themselves. It was such a good idea that I did it, and you’re looking at it.

I’d like to introduce “Wantingseed: The Collaborative Years” and thank Jordan for going in on this with me. It should be fun, or at very least entertaining.

Now Nate is very close to getting his own collaborative writing forum up and running. I am going to join him. I fear that he might be like John though and that our forum may end up going the way of wantingseed… “the huge pile of dead and dying ideas that litter this proverbial canyon floor.”

So, I am looking back on wantingseed to get some inspiration and maybe learn a lesson or two. So far, it seems like there won’t be much difference between what wantingseed is and what Nate plans to do. The differences that are apparent are — three collaborators instead of just two feat. Dave, and a more narrowly defined range of topics.

Finally, I plan on maintaining the blog I already keep, because I miss psifertex.com. I feel that simply jumping ship from psifertex.com to wantingseed.com cut Jordan’s journal keeping interest in half. Then when John left… well, now it’s like Jordan isn’t as into blogging as he once was. He keeps going, but I am not sure that I could or would.
